Which colour should you wear today? In Vedic astrology, every day of the week is ruled by one of the planets, and each planet has its own lucky colours. Why is each day linked to a colour?
In Vedic astrology, the seven days of the week are named after seven of the Navagraha (the nine celestial influences): the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus and Saturn. The same idea runs through many languages. Sunday is the “Sun day”, Monday the “Moon day”, and Saturday “Saturn's day”, just as Ravivar, Somvar and Shanivar are in Hindi.
Each planet is associated with particular qualities, gemstones and colours. Wearing a planet's colour on its day is believed to strengthen its positive influence, which is why many families still follow day-wise colours for clothing, prayers and fasting.

How to follow day-wise colours in everyday life
- Start with one piece. You don't need a full outfit in the day's colour. A tee, a cap or a bracelet is enough.
- Build a small “week wardrobe”. Seven tees, one in each day's colour, make following the chart effortless.
- Use neutrals as your base. Black, off-white and grey sweatpants go with almost every day's colour. (Keep black away from Sunday and Monday if you're following tradition closely.)
- Save it for important days. Many people simply wear the day's colour for interviews, exams, meetings or prayers.

Note: colour astrology is a traditional belief system rather than a science. Wear what makes you feel confident — on any day of the week.
